Education & Training for the Task Force for Preventing and Handling Sexual Violence (PPKS)

Integrated Service Center for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PLTPPKS) UIN Sunan Kalijaga has held educational and training activities for the Task Force for Preventing and Handling Sexual Violence (PPKS) Islamic Religious Universities throughout Indonesia. This activity lasted for three days 12-14 December 2024, which is implemented in a hybrid way, namely at the University Hotel and zoom meeting and broadcast live via live YouTube on the PLT PPKS account.

Prof. Norhaidi Hasan, S.Ag, MA., M.Phil., Ph.D. as Chancellor of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta opened the education and training event. In his speech, Norhaidi emphasized the importance of a joint commitment from the campus to eliminate sexual violence in the tertiary environment and hand over the handling of cases completely to the PPKS task force as the party in charge of PPKS on campus

This training contains material delivery and each session is filled by resource persons who are competent in their fields. Then there was also a discussion and question and answer session between the resource person and the participants. Apart from that, there is a Group Discussion Forum and Follow-up Plan prepared by the committee to evaluate and find out the extent of the impact of the task force training on all participants.. The results and aspirations of the participants will be conveyed to the Indonesian Ministry of Religion so that the event does not only stop at internal PLT discussions but is aspired to by the authorized institutions..

On the first day, Thursday 12 December 2024 A discussion of the first session material was held in the form of Policies for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence at 12:00 p.m 09.30-12.00 WIB. The resource person for this session was the Head of the Legal and Foreign Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Religion, Imam Syaukani, S.Ag., M.H. In this session, Imam Syaukani said that perpetrators of sexual violence do not always have a background of revenge and other bad behavior and are not from uneducated circles., rather, there is a stimulus that arises in a person which requires efforts to prevent and handle sexual violence and then provide a legal umbrella for the victims.

Discussion of material for the second session with the theme "Sexual Violence in Higher Education: Future Developments and Issues” at 13.00-16.00. The resource person in this discussion session was Prof. Animals for Strangers, S.Ag, M.Si., M.A., Ph.D. (National Commission on Women) and Dr. Witriani, SS., M.Hum (PGSA/PLT PPKS UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta).

On the second day, Friday 13 December 2024 A discussion session was held on SOPs for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence at 12:00 p.m 08.00-09.30 WIB. which was facilitated by the Prevention and Advocacy Division of PLT PPKS UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The speaker at this session is Dr. Saifuddin, SHI., MSI and Nur Afni Khafsoh, M.Sos. Then continued with material on Good Practices for Handling Sexual Violence facilitated by the PPKS Task Force at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta at 09.45-11.45 WIB. with resource person Andayani, S. IP, MSW Dr. Pihasniwati, S.Psi, M.A. The material session on Good Practices for Handling Sexual Violence continued at 13.15-14.45 WIB. with resource person Ro'fah, MA., Ph.D. and Ainun Fuadah, M.Pd. Next, a Sharing Session was held between the PPKS Task Forces throughout Indonesia at 12:00 p.m 15.00-16.30 WIB.

Good Practices for Handling Sexual Violence in Higher Education.

1. Ethics of KS mentoring (The best interest of the client, informed consent, privacy, confidentiality, no harm, transparency/accountability, strength-based/empowerment (focus on empowerment, self-determination rights/otonomi, no discrimination.

3. Trauma: the experience of seeing or knowing extraordinary
4. Characteristics of trauma patients: avoidance behavior, re-experincing, hyperarousal, mood changes
5. Trauma responses: fight, fawn, freeze, flop, flight.

On Saturday, 14 December 2024 Network Exploring and MoA activities were carried out at 12:00 p.m 08.00-09.30 WIB. Organizing the Network and MOA was facilitated by Abidah Muftahui, S.Th.I., M.Si.
