
LP2M UIN SATU NEWSROOM – Trenggalek, 7 July 2025. Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung also attended the Climate Village Program Field Verification activities (PROCLIMATE) Sustainable category held at Gading Education Park (GEP), Nglaban Hamlet, Gading Village, Tugu District, Trenggalek Regency.
This activity is part of the national evaluation process by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) RI towards the implementation of community-based climate change adaptation and mitigation actions.
This verification event was attended by KLHK verifiers, Plt. Assistant 2 (Economy and Development Sector) Trenggalek Regency, representatives of a number of OPDs, Secretary of the Tugu Subdistrict Head, Head of Gading Village and village officials, LP2M UIN SATU Tulungagung, BPR Jwalita, Subur Rahayu Farmers Group, Heads of RT and RW Gading Village, as well as ProKlim activists from Gading Village.
The activity began with singing the song Indonesia Raya, followed by remarks from Mrs. Ir. Cusi Kurniawati, M.Si. (Head of the Fisheries Service who doubles as Plt. Assistant for Economy and Development of Trenggalek Regency).

In his speech, Mrs. Cusi said that the Trenggalek Regency Government provides full support for the ProKlim Lestari activities in Gading Village which is led by the innovative Village Head., Mr Wiryanto.
Furthermore, Mrs. Cusi said that Trenggalek has it 152 village and 5 ward. In the year of 2024 has been formed 36 ProKlim location, and now it has reached 37 ProKlim location. Year 2023, Wonocoyo Village, Panggul-Trenggalek District has achieved Sustainable ProKlim. Later 2 the location has won the ProKlim Utama Trophy, 31 location achieved ProKlim Utama Certificate, And 4 ProKlim Madya location. Year 2025 ada 9 New ProKlim location, And 1 ProKlim Lestari
Mrs. Cusi also explained that the Trenggalek Regency Government is very serious about this program. Even, in the Regency RPJPD, included in the Net Zero Carbon program, and this is the only one in Indonesia. Besides that, blue And green economy is also encouraged.
The innovation carried out by the Regency in environmental matters is holding the Adipura awards which are held every year. Adipura is not only limited to Adipura at sub-district and village/ward levels, but until it reaches the smallest area, namely RT and RW. Besides that, Currently it is also being initiated by Adipura SKPD, one of the standards is a dry toilet, clean and not smelly, green SKPD, and others.
Furthermore, Mrs. Cusi also said that in Trenggalek there is also a circular letter for donating/donating trees by ASN Trenggalek Regency (as a person, not using APBD) to carry out a tree planting movement.
“Other innovations in the year 2025 is that ASN performance related to the environment is included in the performance report in the SKP. This is to show the Trenggalek Regency Government's commitment to environmental care”, emphasized Mrs. Cusi.
The next speech was delivered by the Secretary of the Tugu District Head, Mr Sunandar, S. Sos. He expressed his gratitude to all parties who have supported Gading Village in preparing ProKlim Lestari. He ordered, whether there is this award or not, Efforts to preserve the environment are something that must continue to be pursued. Tugu District hopes that Gading Village will really be able to win the ProKlim award in the Sustainable cluster.
Next, speech delivered by the Head of Gading Village, Mr Wiryanto, S.E. In his speech, The Village Head expressed his gratitude for all the hard work of the Subur Rahayu Farmers Group team as the support group for ProKlim Lestari and ProKlim volunteers in Gading Village. He also thanked all parties, starting from the District, OPD, and also Gading Village partners who have provided full support to Gading Village to achieve Sustainable ProKlim.

The village head also said that Gading Village had actually received the ProKlim Utama Trophy award in the previous year, and this year we want to increase it to the Sustainable level. Various efforts have been made together with residents and partners to realize this ideal, starting from managing the Waste Bank, processing organic waste into liquid fertilizer, making biogas from cow dung, FORK FLYING (Clean Week Sweep Movement), innovation in managing plastic waste into fuel, and others.
Post opening field verification, The activity continued with a presentation on ProKlim Lestari Gading Village by Mr. Wiryanto. In this case, he does not act as the Head of Gading Village, but as Secretary of the Subur Rahayu Farmers Group. Presentations are carried out on time 30 minute, and continued with ishoma.
After Ishoma, before conducting a field inspection, LP2M UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung took part in an interview session with the KLHK Verification Team. Dr. Lailatuzz Zuhriyah, M.Fil.I. as Head of the Research Center (Extortion) LP2M UIN SATU said that LP2M UIN SATU Tulungagung was present in its capacity as a village development partner through thematic KKN programs and lecturer service. Gading Village itself is one of the villages assisted by LP2M which has established partnerships in the environmental sector, education, and community empowerment.
Furthermore, Mrs. Lailatuzz said that in fact community service activities in Trenggalek Regency have been running for years 2017. Even though it is religiously based, However, UIN SATU's service extends to various sectors of community life, because the service activities were attended by students and lecturers from across study programs. Meanwhile, Assistance in Gading Village has been running for the past two years.
“This activity shows the importance of collaboration between communities, government, College, and the private sector in creating a sustainable climate village, independent, and resilient to climate change”, said Mrs. Lailatuzz.
“The involvement of universities in programs such as ProKlim is a real form of research-based service (community-based research). We see that Gading is not just a KKN location, but as a living learning space (living lab) for the integration of Islamic values, science, and sustainability,” explained Mrs. Lailatuzz.
“The presence of LP2M UIN SATU in ProKlim Lestari Gading Village is proof that green transformation is not only about technology, but also about religious values and awareness. And from this small village on the slopes of Trenggalek, ecotheology finds space for its actualization”, added Mrs. Lailatuzz.
Ghinanjar Akhmad Syamsudin, M.Pd. (LP2M staff) also added that the novelty of the service activities in Gading Village carried out by UIN SATU Tulungagung was based on Environmental Fiqh. Nature management must also pay attention to sustainability aspects.
Mr. Ghinanjar further said that LP2M sent students to Gading Village to carry out KKN activities with the theme “Digital Literacy: Towards an Environmentally Friendly Village”. To date, KKN students will still carry out active service for the next month.
“Students do many things. Several programs are carried out, such as assistance in processing plastic waste into crafts, environmentally based MSME management, waste management, and so on. This is done to support ecotheology as part of the Ministry of Religion's Asta Protas”, he stressed.
Meanwhile, Secretary of LP2M UIN SATU, Didin Wahyudin, M.Pd.I. said that LP2M will continue to maintain partnerships with all assisted villages, one of them is Gading Village. Community service activities in this village are aligned with village priority programs, so that the service activities carried out can answer the needs of the village.
According to him, ProKlim is a very good program that needs to be continued. The impact of this program is very real for the village. Through this ProKlim framework, In fact, it is not only Gading Village that is learning how to manage its environment so that it remains sustainable and responsive to the impacts of climate change, but UIN SATU Tulungagung as a partner is also learning.
LP2M UIN SATU Tulungagung is proud to be part of this change process. Gading Village has proven that environmental sustainability can be built from the ground up, namely from the spirit of mutual cooperation among all its citizens and strategic partnerships with various parties.

The activity closed with a field visit to ProKlim location points, as well as documentation of good practices that have been carried out by the community. The involvement of LP2M UIN SATU Tulungagung in this process shows real synergy between universities, government, and communities in building climate resilience based on local wisdom.
