LP2M UIN SATU TULUNGAGUNG NEWS ROOM - Friday, 24 October 2025. Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University (UIN ONE) Tulungagung has again established strategic cooperation with Correctional Institutions (Pages) Class IIB Tulungagung. Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) This was held on Friday, 24 October 2025, located in the Meeting Room Floor 2 UIN SATU Tulungagung Rectorate Building.

On this occasion, The MoU was signed directly by the Chancellor of UIN SATU Tulungagung, Prof. Dr. Abd. Aziz, M.Pd.I., and Head of Tulungagung Class IIB Prison, Ma'ruf Prasetyo Hadianto, A.Md.IP., S.H., M.H.

From the prison side, the Head of Prison TU Subdivision was also present, Mr Rebo, S.H.; Kasi Binadik and Giatja, Rizzal Arbi Fanani; as well as prison public relations.

Meanwhile, from UIN SATU, The Chairman of LP2M was present, Prof. Dr. Drink Naim, M.H.I.; LP2M Secretary, Didin Wahyudin, M.Pd.; Head of Research Center, Dr. Lailatuzz Zuhriyah, M.Fil.I.; Head of PSGAD, Dra. Hj. Umy Zahroh, M.Pd.; as well as a number of LP2M staff.

Chancellor of UIN SATU Tulungagung, Prof. Abd. Aziz, In his speech he said that collaboration with Tulungagung Prison was actually nothing new. So far, UIN SATU through the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) has actively sent lecturers and students to provide legal and religious guidance and counseling to the inmates, both in the Men's Prison (every Tuesday) and Women's Prisons (every Thursday).

However, This MoU provides wider collaboration space, not only in the field of religion but also in the field of art, mental construction, counseling, and skills training.
"Forward, Coaching in prison does not only hone the spiritual side, but also artistic and humanitarian expressions. For example, through hadrah or qira'ah training, even outbound and psychological counseling,"explained the Chancellor.

He also expressed his hope that at the Tulungagung Regency MTQ event this year 2027, there were participants from Tulungagung prison inmates. "It would be extraordinary if the inmates could perform in religious or artistic activities, like Hadrah. That's real evidence of the construction that results in self-confidence and faith,he added.

UIN SATU Tulungagung is also ready to present a psychology service unit to support the development of inmates and prison employees. The program designed includes outbound, counseling services, mental construction, and legal construction.

The goal, so that the inmates do not get bored and stress with his daily routine, while strengthening their character and psychological well-being.

Prof. Aziz emphasized the importance of a research-based approach in developing coaching programs. "We need to carry out surveys or mapping to understand the problems experienced by the inmates. Therefore, The coaching curriculum can be adjusted to their real needs,he said.

Head of Tulungagung Prison, Ma'ruf Prasetyo Hadianto , A.Md.IP., S.H., M.H., warmly welcomes the ideas of the Chancellor of UIN SATU Tulungagung. He considered that the inmates really need this form of comprehensive guidance.

"All these efforts are solely to shape the personalities of the inmates for the better. We hope that this collaboration can also bring them closer to their families, public, and the world of work in the future,said Ma'ruf.

At the moment, Tulungagung Prison holds approx 650 construction citizen, with 60 percent of them are drug cases.

In his speech, The Chancellor described prison as a "boarding school of life" for inmates. He quotes the hadith:

Poverty is almost blasphemy
"Poverty is close to disbelief."

According to him, The meaning of "fakir" is not limited to material aspects, but also includes the poor of heart, poor mind, and the social poor.

"Residents not only need to be freed from material poverty, but also from spiritual dryness (poor at heart), intellectual (poor positive thinking), and other poor people. This is where holistic coaching that involves the campus world is important,"said the Chancellor closing the conversation.

After conveying ideas and discussions between both parties, The event continued with the signing of the MoU document by the Chancellor of UIN SATU Tulungagung and the Head of Class IIB Tulungagung Prison.

The atmosphere was full of friendliness and collaborative spirit.

The signing of the MoU was witnessed by all invited guests present, then continued with taking joint documentation as a symbol of joint commitment in strengthening community service and development in the Tulungagung prison environment.
