Blitar, Kesamben-Bumirejo, On 24 January 2020 Education Division KKN students held one of the Work Programs at Bumirejo Elementary School 1 namely Craft Learning. Before holding Craft Learning, The education division asked permission first from the Principal of Bumirejo Elementary School 1.
Ibu Dariyati S.Pd. as Principal of Bumirejo Elementary School 1 permit and agree with the KKN Student work program.
“I allow this craft learning, With this, students can have broad insight and be able to work”, he said.
One of the students said “We hold craft learning starting from class 2. The craft lesson we teach is making brooches from scraps of patchwork (tailor's leftover fabric)“.
“Our aim in holding this craft lesson is to teach students that used goods can be reprocessed into usable goods“, he added.
On 23 January 2020, KKN students begin their program by informing all class students 2 to carry items that can be used to make brooches.
“We ask students to bring needles, thread needle, thread, and scissors. For patchwork, hot glue, brooch button, We have provided matches and candles“, Said the KKN student.
“That night, after informing the students of the items they need, we prepare the patchwork, burning candles, brooch button, matches and candles. We divided the rags, burn glue and brooch buttons into a plastic bag and each plastic bag will be divided by each student to make crafts“, he added.
On 24 January 2020, KKN students enter class 2. After praying together, KKN students look and check whether students have brought their belongings. After completing the attendance of the students, The lesson begins and distributes a plastic bag containing the equipment used to make brooches.
After everything is divided, we start craft learning. The students were enthusiastic about this craft learning.
“First we teach it by inserting thread into a thread needle. After that, We teach you how to sew patchwork then attach the brooch with hot glue and attach it to the fabric that was sewn earlier“, Said the KKN student.
After the learning was finished they were very happy and wanted to repeat the craft learning again. And they were so happy that they immediately wore the brooches they made on their uniforms.
“Students who took part in this activity were very happy, because they can use the brooch they use for women during TPQ, and the boy they give to his mother“, KKN Student said.
“We also feel happy, because the knowledge we provide can be useful for them“, he added.
