Handwritten Batik Training in Kedawung Village

PKK women in Kedawung Village, Nglegok District have several programs, one of which is batik training at the village hall.. This activity was attended by more than 15 women from Kedawung Village which consists of several hamlets such as Salam Hamlet, Kedawung Hamlet, and Sidodadi Hamlet, At the beginning of the event, the village head, Sugiati, gave appreciation and encouragement to the training participants so that what was produced from this training could be useful. This event was held on 25 January 2020 and coincides with Chinese New Year. The event starts at 1 p.m 09.00 until finish.

This activity is the second activity after last week carrying out the same activity for three days in a row, starting date 18 – 20 January 2020. The village head said to us "that this activity is necessary to create the character and characteristics of the PKK women of Kedawung Village by producing a work that can later generate large sums of rupiah., Apart from that, this activity also answers the challenges of the modern era, namely that the mothers here also work to keep up with the times through hand-written batik art with very beautiful decorations.". Meanwhile, Mrs. Uswatun said, "This program has been around in the village for a long time, but it has only been implemented by the PKK starting this year".

Kedawung Village KKN participants took part in written batik training activities

The first material needed in the batik process is mori cloth, canting, heater, batik candle or wax, and coloring. The steps in making batik are to create a design according to creativity, Color the design using a cotton bud, after that, dry it in the sun until dry, given a waterglass so that the color does not fade easily, then lifted and squeezed, Leave it overnight so that the water glass can soak well, then wash with water then soak in hot water and dry. The mothers followed the trainer's instructions enthusiastically and occasionally they asked the trainer questions that they did not understand.

PKK Women Start Written Batik Training Activities

This program is very helpful for KKN participants, because with this program students know more about the process of making hand-written batik from start to finish. Besides that, Students can also make breakthroughs in marketing because they are more adept in cyberspace, especially in this era where everything is digital, so their knowledge can help PKK women in marketing.. This activity will continue once a week every Saturday at the Kedawung village hall.
