SIDOMULYO, Daffodils – In following up regarding the utilization of coconut shell waste, Post Economic Division team 2 Sidomulyo KKN IAIN Tulungagung 2020 carry out meeting of residents with women in Kalimeneng Hamlet, Sidomulyo Village on the day Saturday, date 25 January 2020. This community meeting was held simultaneously with regular social gathering for women from Sidomulyo Village which took place at the residence of the RT Head 1 whose name is Mr Lasto. In this community meeting, the Economic Division team did socialization about the use of coconut shell waste.
As we know that, Village Sidomulyo has extraordinary coconut potential. That potential This is directly proportional to coconut shell waste which is also abundant. However, This waste cannot yet be utilized properly by the residents of Sidomulyo Village. So therefore, The Economic Division team took the initiative to utilize bathok waste the coconut. Richo Aditya, as coordinator of the Economic Division explained to mothers, that the coconut shell can be sold to the artisans coconut palm.
“Actually, these coconut shells can be used, sir, of the coconut husks are thrown away for free or just burned, "It can be sold to improve the economy," said Richo.
Selling coconut shells can be distributed to "Coco Art" craftsmen located in the village Tanjungsari, Blitar City. From selling coconut shells, they can be used as: various kinds of crafts, like: centhong, cup, that, key chain, dll.
“Raw coconut shells that can be used or sold is a coconut shell that is split into 2 part or 4 part. 1kg of raw coconut shells is equivalent to 4 until 5 bath part split coconut into 2 part, which is valued at Rp 1.200 – Rp 1.500”
From this community discussion, residents received mixed responses, there are pros and cons. Mothers who agreed argued that this idea brought benefits for the welfare of residents in Sidomulyo Village, where is the coconut shell? This generates pockets of rupiah that can be used for daily life. Meanwhile, there are also mothers who disagree because of the coconuts they have, has the size of a coconut forehead small, so that the coconut shells cannot be used.
The Economic Division Team also said that raw coconut shells cannot be used as a benchmark for permanent income. Next, the Economic Division Team will bring the samples that have been collected from the women to be taken to the "Coco Art" coconut shell craftsman.
