Bandung, 12 July 2024 – Child Study Center, Gender, and Disabled LP2M UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung participated in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Center for Gender and Child Studies Forum (PSGA) Islamic Religious College (PTKI) and the Semarang Religious Training Center. The event took place in the Meeting Room of the Postgraduate Building at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, aims to strengthen institutions and collaboration between institutions in addressing gender and children issues.

The signing of this MoU was attended by the Head of Community Service Sub-Team, Litapdimas Sub-Directorate of PTKI, Ministry of Religion, Dr.. Amirudin Kuba, MA, who appreciates the work of the PSGA Forum. He emphasized that this MoU was a strategic step in strengthening PSGA institutions. Also present was the Head of Training Center H. Pigs. Muhaemin, S.Ag., M.M, who welcomed this PSGA Forum initiative, considering that gender mainstreaming is one of the research focuses of the Semarang Education and Training Center.

This Memorandum of Understanding was made following the issuance of Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education Number 2806 Year 2024 Concerning the Appointment of the Management of the Gender and Child Study Center Forum at Islamic Religious Universities. Several important points underlying this collaboration are::

  1. PSGA as a study center has the responsibility to conduct gender-related studies, Woman, and child.
  2. PSGA holds the mandate to implement gender mainstreaming in higher education.
  3. PSGA has a strategic role in realizing Gender Responsive Higher Education.
  4. PSGA is responsible for ensuring Gender Responsive Budgeting Planning (PPRG) at PTKI it is running as it should.

However, This mandate has not been fully accompanied by institutional strengthening of the PSGA itself, such as a budgeting system, capacity strengthening, and the appointment of the Head of the PSGA.

Chair of the Child Study Center, Gender, and Disabled LP2M UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung expressed his appreciation for this collaborative initiative. He hopes that through this MoU, there will be more opportunities to develop programs that support increasing the capacity and quality of research and community service related to gender and children issues.

Dr. Ceremony, Chairman of the PSGA Forum, emphasized that this MoU aims to conduct studies in preparing a policy text for Strengthening Institutions for the Center for Gender and Child Studies. The hope, This study carried out by the PSGA Forum and BDK Semarang could produce a policy treatise that would be a solution to PSGA problems, especially in the institutional aspect.

This event was also attended by the Heads of PSGA PTKIN and invited guests from various universities, including representatives from the Indonesian Ministry of Religion who have fully supported this activity from planning to implementation.

With this MoU, It is hoped that the synergy between educational and training institutions will become stronger, creating a more inclusive and just society. Child Study Center, Gender, and Disabled LP2M UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung are optimistic that this collaboration will have a significant positive impact, especially in an effort to increase community awareness and knowledge about gender and child issues.
