PELVIC – Real Work Lecture on Mental Revolution IAIN Tulungagung Post 2 Wonocoyo Village, Panggul District, held an outreach on Reuse-based waste management, Reduce, Recycle (3R) Friday (02/08/2019). The location of the activity at the Wonocoyo Village Hall was attended by posyandu mothers, Head of Wonocoyo Village.
This socialization was welcomed by the participants because it was in line with the competition that the village was taking part in, namely Adipura Village. With the arrival of Endah Setiani from the Panggul Community Health Center as the environmental sanitation department as a speaker, This provides important points regarding the use of waste which is one aspect of the Adipura Village assessment.
Before the presenter explained about waste management as the main material in this socialization, The resource person conveyed the five pillars of Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM). The five pillars consist of the prohibition of open defecation, Wash Hands with Soap, Management of drinking water and healthy food, Waste management properly, and Manage liquid waste safely.
”Managing liquid waste means that there should be no waste water pooling around the house,” said Endah.
He said that the increase in waste was due to the increasing population so that as time went by the waste also increased. Where the increase in waste is not balanced by improvements in waste management infrastructure and facilities. The increase in waste is also caused by limited land for final processing sites (TPA) rubbish.
He explained from the Ministry of the Environment diagram, The largest source of waste comes from households, namely by percentage 45 percent.
The shift from the old order era to the new order did not only occur in the world of politics but also occurred in the Waste Management Paradigm.. The old order waste management paradigm was waste – collect-carry-dispose, while the New Order Waste Management Paradigm is Reuse – Reduce – Recycle – Residue – Transport – TPS.
Reuse means reusing waste that can be used, like using a refillable bottle. Reduce is reducing waste, one way is by not using plastic when shopping but using bags. Recycling is recycling items that can be recycled.
"From an aesthetic perspective, if there is a lot of rubbish in our environment, it will be unsightly and will pollute the environment," said Endah in her presentation.
Currently in waste management, Wonocoyo Village government is planning a waste shredding machine.
“Where is the procurement of this machine, It is hoped that the waste that has been collected and sorted will be easier to sell, namely in the form of small powders,” said the Head of Wonocoyo Village in his speech.
At the end of this activity, there was a demonstration or practice of utilizing waste into materials of economic and aesthetic value, namely using plastic bottles to hang headscarves, flower pot, accessories place, stationery place, and piggy bank. This event became even more lively with the passion and enthusiasm shown by the participants.
Sriani, one of the Wonocoyo Village Posyandu Cadres said that this activity was very useful for us as posyandu cadre mothers, With this we can apply it in every activity of Posyandu and other PKK mothers.
“We can gain knowledge from various directions, the most important thing is that we intend to use knowledge in goodness," said Sriani.
Chairman of Karang Hamlet, he said, This activity is very good and useful because it is used goods that we often throw away, We underestimate it, but it turns out it has value and benefits, Apart from having a selling point, it can also motivate mothers at home, Processing waste can be done at home during relaxed hours.
