PENJOR, PAGERWOJO – Cases of malnutrition often occur in society. This case occurs when the baby is in the womb and during the early stages of the child's birth, However stunting only appears after the child is two years old.

Stunting This is a condition where a person's height is shorter than the height of other people in general. Efforts to overcome the prevalence of stunted toddlers (stunting) is one of the main national development priorities listed in the main targets of the medium-term development plan.

Education of the community is being promoted by one of the villages in Pagerwojo District, Monday (05/08/2019). Namely in Penjor Village, the Village Maternity Center (Polindes) Penjor collaborates with IAIN Tulungagung KKN students to hold prevention outreach stunting.

The event was held in conjunction with Integrated Service Post activities (Posyandu). Attended by midwives and members of the Polindes, IAIN Tulungagung KKN student, as well as residents of Penjor Village. The series of events took place at 08.00 WIB at Penjor Village Hall, Pagerwojo District.

The event began with an examination of the toddlers, such as measuring body weight, body height, head circumference measurement, supplementary feeding (PMT), giving vitamins, and medication to prevent worms. This was followed by an outreach event on stunting prevention delivered by KKN IAIN Tulungagung students.

According to Yulya Lutfatun Khasanah, a student of Islamic Family Law (HKI), as the speaker, said that this event was held with the aim of providing education for the residents of Penjor Village regarding the case stunting and how to prevent it.

“The target of this event is toddlers and their mothers. This event was held to provide education regarding stunting cases in the community, some of them are related to what stunting is, causative factor, and how to prevent it." he said.

"It is hoped that this socialization will be able to inspire people's mindset that stunting is not caused by heredity, rather it is caused by dietary factors, parenting, and sanitation. Apart from that, it provides understanding to the public that stunting cases can be prevented, starting from yourself and community support." Yulya added.

Prevention efforts need to be carried out through several scales of prevention, namely maternal nutrition, breastfeeding support, and community support. Specific nutrition interventions are generally carried out by the health sector, but only contribute 30 percent.
