SIDOKUDUL – Mental Revolution KKN Students at IAIN Tulungagung Post 1 Collaborating with the Trenggalek Regency Diskoperindagtamben to hold an Introduction and Training on Ginger Enting-Enting with the theme "Recognizing Village Potential to Realize Independent Sukokidul", Monday 12 August 2019. This activity takes place from at 09.30 until o'clock 11.53 WIB at the Sukokidul Village Hall was attended by 30 PKK mothers.
The program was implemented based on the results of a survey and mapping in Sukokidul Village which showed that spices were one of the plants that were widely produced here.. However, The spices obtained are sold directly raw or in dry form without any agricultural processing which can increase the selling value.
Therefore, This program is carried out with the hope that after the training the participants will be able to produce ginger root vegetables so that they can improve the household economy and further absorb the workforce of the Sukokidul community..
"I am sure that the people of Sukokidul are more familiar with the conditions and potential of the village. So, In this area, we as KKN students only provide a bridge and become motivators for the mothers present about how to manage the spices here.. With the aim that the selling price can increase. "We also hope that in the future the results of this training can empower village communities," said Rangga, Head of the Command Post 1 when giving a speech.
“Last year KKN also held this kind of training. It is just, the training is making banana sales. Thank God, of the participants present, there was one resident who put it into practice and made it into a home industry. In fact, now they not only sell bananas but also produce mbothe chips. Just like last year, After this training, I really hope that there will be mothers who will pass on the knowledge they have been given by forming a joint business group," said Trimo, Head of Sukokidul Village.
The Sukokidul Village Head also added to the issue of tools, production, or further training, the village government is ready to facilitate it through allocating village funds for empowerment."
After the opening, it continued with counseling delivered by Megik Sugiharto, SH., M.Si. from Diskoperindagtamben Trenggalek Regency. He delivered several materials related to the potential of Sukokidul Village, ginger root business prospects, marketing, and share his experiences in the fields of agriculture and business.
"Actually, in Sukokidul there is a lot of potential that can be developed. You don't have to use ginger, even from ginger itself, if you persist it will also produce results," he said when delivering outreach material.
Furthermore, A question regarding the prospects of ginger root was asked by one of the participants present. Megik added, that the prospects for ginger root vegetables in Sukokidul are very good because it is still rare or even no one has a ginger root business here. Marketing is still wide open as long as the producer is hygienic, especially if they want to apply for PIRT permits at community health centers and sub-districts.
“When producing ginger root, make it taste like ginger. Because what is sold in food is taste. Therefore, if mothers want to make ginger root, The ginger taste should also be felt,” he added.
Next, the final session was the practice of making ginger root. Fifi, Yoga, and Yudha, a KKN-RM post student 1 become a facilitator for the practice of making ginger enting-enting while explaining the process involved in making ginger enting-enting to the training participants.
The training participants were very enthusiastic, All of this was visible during practice, many questions were asked by the training participants. Besides that, They also recorded the steps for making the ginger root and immortalized the process of making the ginger root using a gadget.
