This is based on the mapping results of RM KKN students who saw that there was a lot of empty land in the yard of the house but it had not been utilized optimally by the owner..
Socialization Karangkitri aims to develop family awareness so that they will and able to use empty land as a source of food and nutrition. There is Karangkitri produces a good contribution to food availability as well quality of food consumption and able to increase income.
Plants that Suitable for this coral, like vegetables, tomato, fits, toga and other types of plants that are consumed every day. Karangkitri is not needs too much water.
Mr. Mukhlis Riadi as the resource person said to utilize empty land to plant useful plants. Related with this program, the government, especially East Java, is holding a KRPL program (Food House Area Sustainable). The goal is that Firstly, to utilize the land which is empty, the second is to meet needs. After basic needs are met, independence food in the household and improving the family economy.
