MDB KKN 2022 - Sunday, 27 March 2022, in the chain of events with the show, The Jajar community holds the jamasan tradition which is carried out in Jeding Wonotirto. This jamasan was followed by 9 mothers old and guided by Suwito as a traditional arts and culture activist.
This jamasan is a tradition of washing/purifying in order to welcome the holy month of Ramadan. Jamasan participants bring filled water war—used dry rice stalks—that have been burned and turned into ashes by being contained bold, then given water as much as ¾ of the measure bold.
Furthermore, Jamasan participants line up to go to Jeding Wonotirto. Arriving in Jedding, The jamas sit in front of the jeding, raising their hands and offering prayers. Then after praying, the jamasan ritual is performed.
Jamasan is done by flowing water mixed with strawberries into the hair which is used for shampooing. Then proceed with flowing water throughout the body like bathing by saying prayers. After the jamasan ritual is complete, The jamas came out of Jeding Wonotirto while still offering prayers.
The universities, A resident of Jajar Village said that he had known the Jamasan tradition since childhood from his parents and grandparents until now.. Towards the month of Ramadhan, Jamilatun carries out the Jamasan tradition which is still preserved to this day.
“I have known the tradition of Jamasan since childhood, who knows the elders, if it's time to fast and take a bath, clean your body and place it in the spring.[I have known this Jamasan tradition since childhood, The one who introduced me was Mum, When it's time to fast, I'm told to take a shower to clean my body and place it at a spring]," said Jamilatun.
“Bathing in Jamasan makes me angry, which is still natural to wash, continue jamasan niki ngeh as a form of connecting the tradition of Riyan era who work to fast.[This jamasan bath uses natural strawberries to wash the hair and this jamasan is a form of connecting with ancient traditions that welcome the arrival of Ramadan], Jamilatun explained.
The Jamasan tradition, which is still strong to this day, has received appreciation from the head of Jajar village. The reason, This tradition is rarely done and many people don't know about it. Because of that, carrying out this activity, aims to introduce it to the community, especially children, from an early age and preserve the existing culture that is starting to fade.
