MDB KKN 2022 – Sunday 27 March 2022 MDB KKN Group (Building a Sustainable Village) UIN SATU Tulungagung collaborated with the Magengan show committee 2022 which was held in the yard of the Head of Jajar Village, District. Gandusari, Line. Trenggalek. The Megengan Show event was attended by all residents of Jajar village and invited guests including the Regent of Trenggalek, Jajar village community, youth, and also the ranks of the Jajar Village government. Don't forget that all members of the UIN SATU Tulungagung KKN MDB group also enlivened the Megengan Show.
Mbah Ime—Jajar village head's nickname explains that the purpose of holding the Megengan Show activity is to welcome the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan with the goal of uniting Javanese culture with the Islamic religion.. As the puppeteer Brian said, culture without religion is blind and vice versa, religion without culture is deaf. The Magengan Show was held to welcome the holy month of Ramadan with various performances. This was then continued with the symbolic handing over of plant seeds for reforestation purposes.

Megengan has been a tradition passed down from generation to generation in Javanese society. According to Javanese society, magengan as a form of gratitude in welcoming the holy month of Ramadhan, in Jajar Village it is packaged with the name magengan show. On its implementation, This event was welcomed enthusiastically by people from various circles. In it there are various series of activities starting from the Khanza Mafia performance accompanied by Sufi Dance, relevant remarks, symbolic handing over of tree seeds, Cultural Dialogue by KH. Firm, Ambengan Festival, Salalahuk art, to various dance performances such as Tiban, Cande Ayu and closed with a wayang performance.
In the process of maintaining its sustainability, In Javanese tradition megengan is interpreted as holding back, whereas in the context of the month of Ramadan it means restraining one's desires. Jajar Village preserves the megengan tradition with a unique concept. Combining traditional and modern culture to attract attention from all elements of society. In Jajar Village, the way to preserve this culture is by holding the Megengan Show which has been developing since then. Marked by reciting Salalahuk prayers or prayers recited after the Terawih prayer.
"Let us all work together to preserve the magengan tradition before entering Ramadhan as proof of welcoming the month of Ramadhan and hopefully what is in the history of the Prophet, indeed we are all untouched by hell fire, because we are all happy to welcome the month of Ramadan,” Said Trenggalek Regent Nur Arifin.
