Social and Community Environment Division with the support of Field Supervisors (DPL) and the Head of Macanbang Village planned a work program based on socialization and education on dengue fever prevention. The aim of holding this program is to increase public awareness regarding environmental cleanliness, sungai, Get to know the symptoms and types of dengue fever mosquitoes, as well as the dangers posed by the use of fogging to eradicate mosquitoes.
This socialization is motivated by a community lifestyle which in our opinion is inappropriate. The majority of Macanbang Village residents make their living as farmers, based on our observations, each resident does not have a rubbish dump. Used household waste, Used chemicals are simply thrown into rivers, causing the emergence of Dangie dengue fever mosquitoes. In line with this, the community seems to play a less active role in disposing of waste in a conducive place. This then causes the emergence of Dangie dengue fever mosquitoes when the rainy season arrives. In line with this, people are more likely to ask for mosquito eradication through fogging.
However, as far as the author understands, fogging is not a solution to eradicate Dangie dengue fever mosquitoes, but only adult mosquitoes. Even mosquito larvae cannot die. Apart from that, fogging contains pollutants such as pesticides which can pollute the water, food, air. So fogging is not a solution to dealing with mosquitoes, Rather, the community should be actively involved in maintaining a clean environment by implementing principles 3 M (Drain, Bury, Clean).
“People here don't care about the cleanliness of the surrounding environment, It can be seen from the way the rubbish is disposed of in the river every day, causing the river to overflow with rubbish,” said the local village head.
The socialization was guided by Riswanda Danar Rinaldi, a nurse at the Gondang Community Health Center who has often been involved in providing outreach on Dangie Dengue Fever. The event runs with lancer and Khidmah. Participants also seemed to be arriving in large numbers. The hope is that by holding socialization the community can change their lifestyle to a clean life, Healthy, and discipline. So that in this way people's lives can be intertwined in harmony and spread a sense of security.
