Starting from information from the surrounding community that we obtained during a village potential mapping survey, There are residents who suggest that we visit Mbah Simis' house.
According to the resident's story, Mbah Simis' condition was very worrying, That way we conducted a survey at Mbah Simis' house.
The first impression was seeing the condition of Mbah Simis' house which was made of woven bamboo and was not suitable for living in. In that house, Mbah Simis only lived alone with his son. Mbah Simis's son named Soikem is about the age of 40 year. Apart from not being able to walk, he also has difficulty speaking, making it difficult to blend in with the surrounding community, especially his child-like behavior.
Mbah Simis, who is approx 85 year, making it difficult for him to take care of household needs, which causes the house to be shabby and smell bad. Because Mbah Simis' child cannot urinate and defecate in the proper place.
Then the inside of the house and kitchen, such as household furniture and kitchen equipment, are not neatly arranged, dusty and unfit for use. He also only uses firewood to cook.
And what is very worrying is that he doesn't have a bathroom. Behind the house there is only one water barrel for daily needs.
Mbah Simis' daily food needs rely on plants around the house for cooking and sometimes neighbors provide food. His source of income is from blunting clove leaves, Apart from that, he also has a clove tree.
During the harvest season he ordered people to pick cloves and the people were given minimal wages. Meanwhile, access to Mbah Simis' house is difficult to reach because of the winding road, up and down, rocky and some parts of the road have steep ravines. The journey can be done in approx 10 minutes by motorbike from the post 1 Karangtengah Village.
Knowing Mbah Simis' condition arose a sense of social concern to help him by collecting donations, clean the house and propose help from GERTAK (Look Below Poverty Movement) Trenggalek, BAZNAS (National Amil Zakat Agency), and Social Services. Cleaning Mbah Simis' house was carried out on Monday 29 July 2019 morning, all members of the command post 1 participate, by providing basic food assistance.
In the afternoon around 12:00 p.m 14:00 WIB, BLUFF, BAZNAS, and the Social Service went to Mbah Simis' house to conduct a survey and ask for permission to provide assistance. Besides that, GERTAK party, BAZNAS, and the Social Service provides assistance in the form of basic necessities.
