The Economic Division team visited one of the residents' businesses in the RT 02 Genuk Hamlet, Kalimanis Village on Tuesday 28 January 2020. The owner of the Opak Gambir business is named Mrs. Tatik.
She has a husband named Siswanto. Mr Siswanto works as a traveling green bean porridge seller who sells at several schools in Doko District, precisely in Resapombo..
According to Mrs. Tatik, “trading is one of the ways to open the door of sustenance that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordained. Therefore, I am very happy and enthusiastic when pursuing the business I am working on“.
Mrs. Tatik has been running the Opak Gambir business for a short time, namely since the last month. Previously, he is a skewer craftsman. He has been working as a skewer craftsman for about a year.
However, Mrs. Tatik chose to end her business because she has young grandchildren and is afraid that the tools used in the process of making skewers will hurt her grandchildren.. Therefore, he prefers to run the Opak Gambir business.
The opaque gambier dough is made from starch, egg, coconut cream, and fruit flavor variant extracts mixed into one. This flavor variant consists of red for strawberry flavor, white for lychee flavor, green for melon flavor, yellow for durian flavor and purple for grape flavor.
The manufacturing process is relatively easy, However, you have to be patient and add the help of a tool called a semprong cake mold. He bought this tool for two hundred and fifty thousand rupiah for one pair.
Mrs. Tatik does not sell opaque gambier directly, but only sells it to collectors in Sumberbendo Village at a price of thirty-two thousand rupiah for one kilo. Then the collectors sell it again outside the region, even outside the province, such as in Kalimantan, Sumatra etc.
Even though the business she is involved in is still new and still considered learning, Mrs. Tatik never gives up and does not give up. In fact, he made failure the key to success that he would achieve one day.
Mrs. Tatik said, “It's a small business, but it's impossible to make it big right away, westolah alon- slowly but surely it can happen”. “A business starts small and cannot immediately become big, plan- Just take it slow to achieve success.".
