Background
Factors that directly cause maternal death are factors related to complications during pregnancy, labor and delivery time. These complications include bleeding, preeclampsia/eclampsia, infection due to birth trauma, Obstructed labor or prolonged labor and spontaneous abortion or unsafe or risky abortion. Meanwhile, factors that are indirect causes of maternal death are factors that aggravate the condition of pregnant mothers, such as FOUR TOO (too young, too old, too frequent births and too close birth spacing). Apart from that, there are also factors that complicate the process of handling pregnancy emergencies, labor and postpartum are like THREE LATE (too late to recognize danger signs and take decisions, being late in reaching health facilities and being late in handling emergencies) This means that the coverage of birth assistance by health workers in health service facilities is still low.
