DEMUK-PUCANGLABAN - Monday, 6 February 2023 Health cadres carry out routine posyandu activities for babies and toddlers located at the Demuk village hall and Posyandu Anggrek IV. February and August are the months of vitamin A which is very beneficial for the body. Therefore, the health and environment division with the support of Field Supervisors and health sector cadres launched a work program based on community empowerment patterns. One of the objectives of this work program is to foster community participation and play an active role in supporting children's health in Demuk village.

Seeing the lack of knowledge of parents about nutrition and their lack of enthusiasm in fulfilling vitamin A which occurs in children suffering from low energy or malnutrition. However, This can also happen to families with sufficient income. So therefore, The health and environment division took the initiative to collaborate with cadres to provide vitamin A to children.

According to the Head of the Public Health Division of Demuk village, Qosidah said that vitamin A capsules can be obtained for free at health facilities such as hospitals, health center, treatment center, doctor's practice, or private practice midwife.

"It is also provided through services at the Orchid IV Posyandu,” he said.

Meanwhile, The cadres explained that the dosage of vitamin A should be adjusted to the child's age. Therefore, As a means of equal distribution of vitamin A supplies, high dose blue capsule vitamin A supplementation was distributed (dose 100.000 IU) for baby age 6-11 moon and red capsule (dose 200.000 IU) for children 12-59 month in Demuk village. Some of the benefits of fulfilling vitamin A are good for eye health, can reduce eye disorders or diseases, and prevent eye damage and blindness.
