PAGERWOJO, CONTINUITY. 19/01/2020. KKN student from the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Tulungagung in Dukuh Koripan, Pagerwojo Village, Kesamben District, Blitar Regency is implementing one of the Socio-Cultural and Religious Division programs, namely reintroducing traditional games to children.
KKN students stated “Remembering that traditional games are one part of the variety of cultures that grow in Indonesia. Before the arrival of technological developments that began to creep up among children, Various traditional games have colored the lives of Indonesian children“.
Based on this phenomenon, the socio-cultural and religious division of KKN IAIN Tulungagung students took the initiative to hold a program "introducing and re-preserving traditional games for children" in Pagerwojo Village targeting MI Bustanul Mutta'alimin students on a schedule of sports activities and a creative week every Sunday after gymnastics..
On 19 January 2020, the socio-cultural and religious division and assisted by other divisions carry out a creative week program with one of the activities in it, namely introducing traditional games to children. This activity received a positive response from the children.
“Traditional games themselves are not widely known by students in this modern era, because there are many games that follow the development of modern technology and have negative effects on children, for example, make children more individualistic“, Explained one of the teachers at MI Bustanul Mutta'alimin.
Among the traditional games introduced by KKN students from the social, cultural and religious division is the game of hide and seek, Gobak Sodor, fortification, cat and mouse and boi-boian. In the following days every sports lesson, we (socio-cultural and religious divisions) participate in traditional games and provide an understanding of the traditional games being played.
“Basically, there are many types of traditional games in the archipelago, because of the various tribes that exist in Indonesia, So each region has its own traditional games. However, The point is that this traditional game contains many positive things in it”, Said the KKN student.
“Indirectly, traditional games teach children about simplicity, train children to have a sportsmanship mentality, train children's self-confidence, easy to get along with around, stimulate children's creativity, healthy and train children's dexterity and other positive things and of course not monotonous“, he added.
The program implemented by the socio-cultural and religious division has the main aim of reintroducing and preserving traditional game culture which has been forgotten by the current millennial generation.. This activity of introducing traditional games received a very positive response from the students.
Many students enjoy this traditional game more after getting an introduction to traditional games.
“Play again tomorrow, sis! playing cat and mouse is fun...!!“, said several third grade students.
This expression proves that traditional games are still loved and loved even though many consider them old-fashioned.
The end of this program is competing in several traditional games in each class and it is hoped that children will later master various traditional games to slightly reduce the negative dangers of gadgets..
