Sexual violence still occurs frequently, including at several Islamic Universities. The government has made various efforts to prevent and eliminate all sexual crimes, one of which was the passing of the TPKS Law. Likewise with the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology no 30 year 2021 concerning Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence in Higher Education.
Meanwhile, to prevent sexual violence on the campus of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, Center for Gender Studies in Children and Disabilities (PSGAD) held an outreach event on the Prevention and Control of sexual violence which was held on Thursday 12 Mei 2022, in the Rectorate Hall Floor 3.
Present at the event was the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Badruzaman century, Lc, M.Ag. who is also a resource person regarding preventing sexual violence on campus. He hopes that there will be no more exploitation of students, let alone sexual violence on the UIN Sayyid Ali Tulungagung campus. And for students who feel they are victims of sexual violence, are welcome to report to the campus. The vice chancellor guaranteed that he would provide protection to victims and fulfill their rights as reporters. He said that UIN Satu Tulungagung already has a guidebook for preventing and handling sexual violence, as a real form of campus attention to preventing and eliminating all forms of sexual violence on campus.
Also present was the Deputy Dean II of FASIH, Indri Hadisiswati, who is also a resource regarding sexual violence from a legal perspective. According to him, Sanctions for ASN perpetrators on the UIN Satu Tulungagung campus refer to PP No. 53 Year 2010 concerning Civil Servant Discipline. There are several types of sanctions for perpetrators, starting from light sanctions to heavy sanctions. This sanction is an administrative sanction, coaching sanctions to reporting sanctions to the police. Heavy sanctions are imposed if the perpetrator commits an act that is not sufficient for a light sanction, such as sexual exploitation, rape, forced prostitution and so on.
Meanwhile, Fardan Mahmudatul Imamah conveyed several principles for preventing and handling sexual violence. According to him, In every effort to eliminate sexual violence, victims must always have a survivor perspective. Where the process of reporting and handling sexual violence must always pay attention to the rights and protection of victims, without discrimination and without coercion. He said that campuses should be free from all forms of sexual violence, because violence can greatly hinder a person's potential.
The socialization event on the prevention and handling of sexual violence was attended by one hundred students, each of which represents study programs from four faculties. Students really welcomed the event and hope that in the future there will be no more sexual violence in any form. They also hope that the campus can truly protect students from all forms of sexual violence committed by irresponsible individuals..
