Malang, East Java– Thursday, 29 August 2024, an outreach entitled Digital Security was held in the Tulusbesar Village Hall. This seminar is part of the Real Work Lecture work program (KKN) by the Malang Community 2024. This socialization aims to increase public awareness, especially Posyandu cadres, including the importance of maintaining data security and privacy in the increasingly developing digital era. This event was attended by 20 Posyandu cadre mothers, member of the Malang Community KKN, as well as a number of local community figures.
The enthusiasm of the participants can be seen from their conducive and punctual attendance. The material was delivered by Zain Natu Rosyidah, a student at UIN SATU Tulungagung from the Malang Community KKN 2024. With a background in information technology education, he became the main speaker in this socialization. Apart from that, according to several colleagues, Zain has a special interest in issues related to digital security, and he is committed to providing in-depth knowledge that is easily understood by the participants.
Zain started his presentation by explaining the basic concepts of digital security. He explained that digital security is the steps and practices taken to protect personal information and data from various threats in cyberspace, such as identity theft, account hacking, and online fraud. According to him, the risk to personal data is getting higher, and therefore, understanding the basics of digital security becomes very important.
Zain then displays several types of digital threats that are often faced by internet users. One of the most common is phishing, namely, attempts to obtain sensitive information such as passwords or credit card information by impersonating a trusted entity. Besides phishing, Zain also discusses malware, that is, software designed to damage or gain unauthorized access to computer devices or networks. Malware can enter the device through various means, such as downloading unsafe applications, clicking on suspicious links, or via infected email attachments.
Zain doesn't just discuss threats, but also provides practical tips for protecting yourself from digital attacks. He recommends using a strong and unique password for each account, and change passwords regularly. Besides that, Zain also emphasized the importance of two-factor authentication (2FA), which adds an extra layer of security to important accounts, such as email and social media. With 2FA, even if someone's password is stolen, Cybercriminals still require an additional verification code which is usually sent to the user's device.
Through this outreach, it is hoped that it can have a long-term impact on the people of Tulusbesar Village in maintaining digital security. With the knowledge and awareness that has been obtained, People are expected to be able to protect themselves from various digital threats they may face, so that they can continue to carry out their roles safely and effectively amidst rapid technological advances.
