LP2M UIN SATU Tulungagung News Room – Malang, 29 July 2026 – Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung together with the East Java Melaju Collaborative Research research team from the Working Unit of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung attended Monitoring and Evaluation activities (Monev) East Java Research Progress Report Progresses Yearly 2026 which was held at Brawijaya University (UB).
This activity was attended by LPPM/LP2M/DRPM management from state universities (PTN) and state universities with legal entities (PTNBH) throughout East Java, as well as the heads of the research team from 53 research consortium that received funding from the Melaju East Java Collaborative Research Program.
The event opened with remarks from the Director of the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM) Brawijaya University, Prof. Luchman Hakim, S.Si., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D. In his speech, he expressed his appreciation and thanks for the presence of all LPPM/LP2M PTN and PTNBH managers throughout East Java. According to him, Collaborative research developed through the East Java Melaju Program must be able to have a real impact on society and be a solution to various strategic problems in East Java.
Prof. Luchman also hopes that the results of the monitoring and evaluation carried out on this occasion can become material that will be given an audience to the Governor of East Java. Thus, The East Java Provincial Government can see directly the development of research as well as the real contribution of researchers in supporting regional development based on science and innovation.
The next speech was delivered by the Director of the DRPM Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Prof. Fadilatul Taufany, S.T., Ph.D., who also acts as the committee for the East Java Research Program as well as representing universities developing research management applications used in the program.
In his presentation, Prof. Taufany said that by the first year of implementation the program had been formed 53 research consortium involving various universities in East Java. He hopes that the achievements of the first year can provide encouraging results while strengthening the commitment of university leaders to continue to support the sustainability of this collaborative research.
He also emphasized that research objects do not always have to be large scale or located in remote locations. Local phenomenon, like Sidoarjo Mud (LUSI), according to him, it is an example that can be studied from various scientific perspectives and produce significant scientific contributions.
Besides that, Prof. Taufany also emphasized the importance of International Research Networking (IRN) as a strategy to expand global research networks. According to him, Research consortiums have a very strategic position in opening up opportunities for international collaboration, especially considering the increasing number of research funding schemes from abroad that require cross-institutional and cross-country collaboration.
He also revealed that the results of this year's monitoring and evaluation review will be submitted to the Governor of East Java as a form of accountability for program implementation. Based on analysis of funded proposals, tema Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technology is an enabler that supports almost all research fields in the East Java Melaju Program. According to him, AI topics also have a huge opportunity to produce internationally reputable publications in top tier journals. Meanwhile, This monitoring and evaluation is focused on reporting research progress which has reached approx 70 percent.
Furthermore, the report on the implementation of the activity was submitted by the Head of Research Sub-directorate DRPM Brawijaya University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lukman Hakim, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. In the report, it was stated that in the first year the East Java Melaju Research Program existed 53 involving consortia 182 researchers from various universities in East Java.
He also explained that Brawijaya University hosted the first year of monitoring and evaluation. After the opening session, The entire research team took part in the presentation of the research progress report which was carried out at the Joint Services Building, Universitas Brawijaya Floor 7 by involving reviewers from across state universities in East Java.
Through participation in this activity, LP2M UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung emphasized its commitment to continuing to strengthen the collaborative research culture, produce impactful research, and supporting the development of East Java through innovation and scientific development. The East Java Melaju Research Program is expected to become a model of research collaboration between universities that is able to answer community needs while increasing the competitiveness of Indonesian research at the global level..
