LP2M UIN SATU NEWSROOM – Surabaya, 6 June 2024. Task Force for Handling and Preventing Sexual Violence (PPKS Task Force) State Islamic University (UIN) Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung attended the Capacity Building invitation organized by the Task Force for Handling and Preventing Sexual Violence (PPKS Task Force) UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. This event took place on the date 5-6 June 2024. Present at this activity were the leadership of UINSA Surabaya, namely Plt. Principal, Vice Chancellor, Deputy Dean, Deputy Director, lecturer, educational staff, student, as well as the UINSA Surabaya PPKS Task Force Team. Besides that, representatives from the UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh PPKS Task Force, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, and UIN KHAS Jember also participated.
This Capacity Building event was held to strengthen the capacity of the PPKS Task Force Team in preventing and handling sexual violence in higher education environments, especially at Islamic Religious Universities (PTKI). As is known, sexual violence in universities is increasing day by day, with various typologies of sexual violence. Considering the urgency of this activity for the PPKS Task Force Team in all universities, So UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung in this case assigned Dra. Umy Zahroh, M.Kes, Ph.D and Lailatuzz Zuhriyah, M.Fil.I. to take part in this activity. Remember, UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung has a PPKS Task Force Team which has been legally and formally decreed by the Chancellor.
The Capacity Building event was officially opened by Plt. Chancellor of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, Prof. Dr. H. Ali Mudlofir, M.Ag., then continued with the presentation of the material by Dr. Nanda from the UINESA PPKS Task Force until noon. Dr. Nanda emphasized that sexual violence leaves deep wounds on the victim, so that education and efforts to prevent and handle sexual violence at PTKI are very important. The large number of victims of sexual violence in Indonesia makes this event very relevant and crucial.
The next material was delivered by Dr. Ceremonies, M.A, Chairman of the PSGA PTKIN Forum throughout Indonesia and Chairman of PSGA UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang until the afternoon. Mrs. Dr. Ceremonies, M.A. said that victims of sexual violence in higher education often experience various serious and long-term psychological impacts. Appropriate assistance is key in helping victims of sexual violence maintain and recover their mental health. Mrs. Dr. Ceremonies, M.A. conveyed an invitation to all participants to have a strong determination in fighting sexual violence, especially at PTKI. He also encouraged participants to uphold religious values in every action. He further hopes that the Capacity Building event at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya can strengthen the commitment and capability of the Task Force in preventing and handling sexual violence in higher education environments..
The first day of activities was attended by lecturers and education staff, while the second day was focused on students. The students who took part in this activity were students who were volunteers for the PPKS Task Force Team from representatives of several universities. The participants showed high enthusiasm, especially during question and answer sessions and victim assistance practices.
Second day, The capacity building activity was completed by resource persons from UNAIR and UIN KHAS Jember. However, before that, Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Abdul Muhid, M.Si. gave a speech at the activity. In his speech, Prof. Muhid said that the PPKS Task Force at PTKIN was a follow-up to the TPPKS regulations ratified by the Minister of Religion. The PPKS Task Force has a very urgent role in ensuring that PTKIN is free from KS. There have been several cases that have been handled by the UINSA PPKS Task Force, and at least this is UINSA's effort to be free from KS, good by the lecturer, tendon, as well as students.
After Prof. Dr. Abdul Muhid, M.Si., The activity was filled by speakers from UNAIR, namely Mrs. Ike Herdiana, M.Psi. In his presentation, he said that sexual violence in higher education is a serious and complex problem, which requires a comprehensive approach in providing support to victims. Effective assistance can help victims feel safe, heard, and supported in their recovery process.
The final session on day 2 was filled by the Head of PSGA UIN KHAS Jember, Mrs. Alfisyah Nurhayati, M.Si. In the presentation of the material, he conveyed about the practices of preventing and handling sexual violence at UIN KHAS Jember. The PPKS Task Force at UIN Jember has been decreed by the Chancellor and has started working to prevent and deal with sexual violence on campus. In practice, The task force is assisted by volunteers from student elements, and also partner with external parties. There have been several cases handled by the task force team and the results have been quite good. Victim assistance is carried out intensively to ensure that victims do not experience prolonged mental disorders. To maximize the performance of the Task Force, The campus needs to open a complaint hotline, and the Task Force Team must be responsive and act quickly to immediately handle the case. (LZ)
